Cataloguing all the existing incarnations of the Mermaid of Warsaw is a rewarding task and an undertaking close to our hearts. The mermaid featured in the coat of arms of our city is our everyday companion. It has been – and still is – a source of inspiration for architects, people of culture, and local citizens designing and shaping the public space of Warsaw.

It’s a silent hero of our city. Hidden in different nooks here and there, but also keeping an eye on the city from its main streets. We pass it by in different shapes and forms every day. And at some point it made us wonder why there had been no exhaustive database of the various renditions of this symbol of our city. We decided to change it.

2015

We finished the first edition of the catalogue of mermaids of Warsaw. We’ve included all information about the incarnations of the Mermaid of Warsaw in the city’s urban spaces. So far, we’ve managed to locate over 100 of them.
